NIT Kurukshetra Junior Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra (NIT Kurukshetra), under the Ministry of Education, is recruiting Junior Engineers in Civil and Electrical engineering for campus infrastructure work. The contractual engagement supports construction, maintenance and engineering services across the institute. You will work with campus facilities used by academic departments, offices, hostels and residential areas. The notice brings both engineering disciplines under Advertisement 28/2026, with separate work profiles.

Posts and Disciplines

• Junior Engineer Civil: This role covers buildings, roads, drainage, water supply and other civil infrastructure, including repairs and campus development work.
• Junior Engineer Electrical: This role covers power installations, lighting, backup power, solar systems and related electrical services across the campus.

Post-wise Duties

Junior Engineer Civil

You will help prepare estimates, drawings and technical specifications, supervise site work and check construction materials and workmanship. You will also attend to infrastructure complaints, record work measurements and help check contractor bills. Coordination with architects, contractors and other engineering teams forms part of the assignment.

Junior Engineer Electrical

You will help operate and maintain electrical installations and backup power systems, inspect ongoing work and support testing before systems enter service. Your work also includes responding to breakdowns, tracking energy use and helping improve energy efficiency. You will keep technical records and coordinate repairs with contractors, testing agencies and electricity service providers.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial tenure: The contract runs for one year and ends automatically when that period expires, without a separate termination order.
• Extension: A maximum of two further years may be considered, depending on institutional need, available work and satisfactory performance, conduct and attendance. A written order from the competent authority is essential.
• Appointment status: Continued work or an extension does not create a right to regular appointment, absorption, seniority or further renewal.
• Ending the contract: Either side can end the engagement with one month of notice or one month of pay instead. Misconduct, concealed facts or breach of contract can lead to action.
• Handover: When the engagement ends, you must return institute records, equipment, data, credentials and other property and complete the required clearance process. A pending extension request does not keep an expired contract alive.
• Contract agreement: After joining, you must sign a notarized agreement covering the contract conditions, confidentiality, ethics and integrity. Oral assurances do not create a right to continued engagement.
• Institutional decisions: The institute may leave a post unfilled. Disputes fall within District Kurukshetra jurisdiction.
• Reservation clarification: The instruction sheet labels the Electrical position OBC in its opening text and UR in its detailed entry. Ask the institute to clarify the category before relying on either label.
