NIOT Technician Grade-A Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

NIOT, an autonomous institution under the Earth System Sciences Council and Ministry of Earth Sciences, has issued Advertisement No. NIOT/E&P/05/2026 (Regular). The vacancy is for Technician Grade-A in the Electronics or Instrumentation discipline, Post Code TGA-EI-01-2026, in Group C. It is a regular direct-recruitment post open to Indian citizens.

The selected technician may be posted at any NIOT centre or project site in India. The role includes laboratory, shipboard and offshore technical work. Applicants should be comfortable handling electronic instruments, wiring, testing, calibration and field deployments at sea. NIOT encourages eligible women to apply.

This is a hands-on technical role rather than a desk-only post. Your work can move from panel wiring and PCB assembly in a laboratory to sensor testing aboard a designated ship or offshore platform. You should be ready to maintain power supplies and instrumentation equipment, support system integration, and join sea trials or surveys when assigned.

Selection Process

NIOT uses application screening, a trade or written test, a qualifying skill test and document verification. Both tests are held only at the NIOT Campus in Chennai.

1. Preliminary Screening: NIOT checks essential qualification, age, application completeness, photograph, signature, marksheets, ITI certificate and experience evidence.
2. Shortlisting: If applications are numerous, NIOT may use qualification cut-offs, relevant experience or a written test to limit the number called.
3. Trade/Written Test: The marks obtained in this test determine final merit among applicants who qualify the skill test.
4. Skill Test: This is a practical and qualifying test. You must secure the cut-off fixed by the Selection Committee.
5. Document Verification: Original uploaded documents must be produced. The tests may be held on the same day or consecutive days.

NIOT will publish the test scheme, syllabus, date and time on its website and send call letters to registered email addresses. You arrange your own travel and stay. Eligible outstation SC/ST applicants called for the tests may receive sleeper-class fare reimbursement under the conditions in the notice.

How to Apply

1. Open the NIOT online recruitment portal and select Technician Grade-A (Electronics / Instrumentation).
2. Confirm that you meet the 10th, ITI, computer-knowledge and age requirements.
3. Enter accurate personal, educational and experience details in the online form.
4. Upload a recent colour passport-size photograph, signature, 10th certificate, ITI certificate, consolidated marks list and applicable experience certificates.
5. Upload age-relaxation proof if applicable. Government, autonomous-body and PSU employees must upload a vigilance-clear NOC or route the generated form through proper channel.
6. Review every entry before final submission because correction requests are not accepted later.
7. Submit the form by 14 September 2026 and note the generated registration and application numbers.
8. Download the generated application and bring it with original documents to the selection tests.

Applications are accepted online only. A hard-copy application is not accepted at the initial stage. Incomplete applications, missing uploads or an invalid application number lead to rejection.
