National Institute of Immunology (NII), a BRIC institute under the Department of Biotechnology, needs a Part-Time Medical Consultant for its New Delhi campus. This is a contractual clinical role focused on supporting serving and retired employees, students, and their eligible family members. The position suits an experienced general medicine practitioner who can maintain a regular evening presence while continuing an existing practice or retired professional life.

The consultant works from the NII clinic in the Gymnasium Block and acts as the institute's first point of contact for routine health concerns. The work also includes advice during urgent situations, medical input on certificates placed before the administration, and participation in health camps or institutional programmes. Your professional registration must remain valid for the full engagement.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Working schedule: The clinic runs for two hours in the evening on every working day and Saturday, except government holidays. NII may revise the hours after consulting the medical consultant when operational needs change.
• Contract term: The initial engagement lasts one year and includes a half-yearly performance review. A further term is possible only through written agreement between both sides.
• Professional arrangement: This consultancy does not create an employer-employee relationship or a claim to regular NII employment. The monthly fee is subject to applicable tax deduction, with no separate allowance.
• Attendance: You must inform NII beforehand when you cannot attend. The institute may make a proportionate deduction for missed clinic days.
• Emergency support: You may need to give telephone advice outside clinic hours and, where reasonably practical, attend an emergency at the institute.
• Campus visits: Urgent visits within the campus form part of the assignment. You cannot charge a separate consultation or visit fee for this work.
• Clinical conduct: You remain responsible for your own medical decisions and must keep professional boundaries. A chaperone must be present while examining a female patient.
• Records and conflicts: Keep a daily patient log and send a consolidated monthly report to the administration. You must step away from reimbursement opinions involving treatment provided through your own private practice.
• Exit terms: Either side may end the arrangement with one month's written notice. Disputes connected with the contract fall under Delhi courts.
