NHAI is hiring 2 Deputy Manager (Information Technology) officers on a direct recruitment basis. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Deputy Manager (IT) Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is the apex autonomous body under the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways responsible for developing, maintaining and managing National Highways across the country. NHAI has released a notification for 2 Deputy Manager (Information Technology) posts to strengthen its IT team. Selection is done entirely on the basis of your GATE 2026 score in the Computer Science and Information Technology discipline — there is no separate written exam conducted by NHAI, which makes this a great opportunity for GATE-qualified CS/IT engineers. Out of the 2 posts, 1 is unreserved and 1 is reserved for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.

This role is ideal for fresh GATE-qualified engineers as well as young IT professionals who want to build a long-term career in a central government organisation. As a Deputy Manager (IT), you will play a part in supporting NHAI's digital infrastructure that underpins highway project monitoring, tolling systems, and internal IT operations across its regional and project offices nationwide.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Electronics and Communication, OR a Master's in Computer Application (MCA) from a recognised University or Institute.
• If your final degree result is not out by 5 August 2026, you can still apply, but you must submit your provisional or final degree certificate to NHAI by 31 August 2026. If you fail to do so, your candidature will be cancelled without further notice.
• You must be willing to serve anywhere in India, as this post carries all-India service liability.
• SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD candidates must submit category certificates in the prescribed format only; applications without valid certificates will be considered only against the Unreserved (UR) vacancy, if otherwise eligible.

Age Limit

• You should not exceed 30 years of age as on the closing date of the advertisement (5 August 2026).
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates get 3 years, and Ex-servicemen get 5 years relaxation.
• PwBD Relaxation: SC/ST-PwBD candidates get 15 years, OBC-PwBD get 13 years, and General-PwBD candidates get 10 years relaxation.
• All age concessions are concurrent — if you qualify for more than one, only the highest applicable relaxation will be granted.

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a salary of Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month under Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix.
• You will also get Central Dearness Allowance (CDA) as per NHAI rules.

Selection Process

The selection is done in 2 stages based purely on your GATE score — there is no written exam conducted by NHAI itself:

1. GATE 2026 Score Shortlisting: Candidates are ranked by their GATE 2026 score in the Computer Science and Information Technology discipline. Since there are only 2 vacancies, the top 5 candidates from each category (UR and OBC) in the merit order will be called first. If enough eligible candidates are not found among these, the next batch of 5 candidates in each category will be called, and this process continues until enough eligible candidates are available.
2. Screening Committee Verification: Shortlisted candidates must appear in-person before the Screening Committee on a specified date to verify their GATE 2026 scorecard by logging into the IIT Guwahati/GATE 2026 website with their own credentials. No TA/DA is paid for appearing before the Committee, and candidates must bear any fee for downloading their score card.

Service Bond: Selected candidates must sign a Service Bond of Rs. 5 lakh and serve NHAI for a minimum of 3 years from the date of joining. If you resign early or your service is terminated for misconduct within this period, you will need to pay this amount back to NHAI. This bond may be transferred if you later join another Central/State Government body with proper permission.

How to Apply

1. Go to the NHAI website at nhai.gov.in using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
2. Click About Us → Recruitment → Vacancies → Current.
3. Click on the Deputy Manager (Information Technology) advertisement, then click Online Application and follow the on-screen instructions.
4. Fill in the form and upload your photograph, signature, Class-X certificate, caste/category certificate (if applicable), degree certificate, and GATE 2026 score card, keeping each file within the prescribed size limit.
5. Preview your application, then click Submit before 5 August 2026 (6:00 PM). Once submitted, no changes are allowed, so double-check all entries before final submission.
6. Save the Application Acknowledgement with your Unique Reference Number for future reference — you may need to produce it later along with supporting documents.

Tip: Submit your application well in advance instead of waiting for the last day, since NHAI only considers the last application if you accidentally submit more than one.
