Madhya Pradesh Employee Selection Board (MPESB), Bhopal is running the direct recruitment selection exam for Subedar (Ministerial) - Stenographer and Assistant Sub-Inspector (Ministerial) in the Madhya Pradesh Police, on the strength of Police Headquarters letter 40-A dated 30 July 2026 and the G.O.P. 150/2022 recruitment rules. These are the desk-side ranks of the police — the people who run the correspondence, the case paperwork and the records inside police offices rather than the field beats. This is one of the largest ministerial-cadre police drives the board has put out in a single rulebook, and it is open to both men and women. You give a cadre preference when you fill the form, but the department makes the final posting against availability and administrative need, so a preference is a request and not a guarantee.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Domicile: A permanent resident (domicile) certificate of Madhya Pradesh is compulsory for any reservation or age concession. Candidates from other states can apply only against the unreserved open seats and get no concession of any kind.
• Home district: Selected candidates are not posted in their home district, with Madhya Pradesh Police Headquarters as the only exception.
• Minimum unit service: You must complete at least five years in the unit you are first posted to before you become eligible for transfer to another unit or office.
• Transfer liability: After appointment you can be posted to any other branch of the police department or to any department of the state government, inside or outside Madhya Pradesh. • Serving employees: Government servants need written prior permission from their present appointing authority to sit the exam, and must produce an accepted resignation, or a relieving order in the case of Madhya Pradesh Police staff, on selection.
• Character: Candidates dismissed by the Union or a state government, a local authority or a government corporation are treated as ineligible.
• Pension: Staff appointed on or after 1 January 2005 come under the defined contribution pension scheme, not the old pension rules.
• Vacancy count: The board records that the advertised number of posts can go up or down before the selection is finalised.
• Provisional eligibility: MPESB does not verify a single certificate while you apply — the department checks everything later, so your candidature stays purely provisional until then.

Application Submission Notes

Applications are accepted online only, through the MPOnline portal linked from the board's website. One single form covers every post in this notice — you do not fill separate forms for the Subedar and the Assistant Sub-Inspector cadres.

The part candidates most often get wrong is the preference list. You must mark a preference against every post you are eligible for. If you leave one out, the board will not consider you for it later even if your percentile is high enough. Aadhaar registration is compulsory, and the number you give is matched by biometric verification at the exam centre, so use the Aadhaar you actually hold. Filing more than one application by any means cancels your candidature outright.
