MNNIT JRA/SRA/RA Mechanical Engg Recruitment 2026: Overview

Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (MNNIT) is hiring one JRA/SRA/RA (on contract) for a Mechanical Engineering Department research project titled "IoT-Enabled Smart Atmospheric Water and Carbon Capture System Using Ultrasound-Regenerated Hybrid Sorbents for Urban Sustainability," funded by the Council of Science & Technology, Uttar Pradesh (CSTUP). The project develops an IoT-enabled system for atmospheric water harvesting and carbon capture using ultrasound-regenerated hybrid sorbents, aimed at energy-efficient, sustainable urban water and carbon-capture solutions. Only candidates who are residents of Uttar Pradesh are eligible, per the funding agency's rules, and the exact position level — Junior Research Assistant, Senior Research Assistant or Research Associate — depends on the qualification and experience you hold.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Domicile: Only candidates who are residents of Uttar Pradesh can apply, since the project is funded by CSTUP.
• Tenure: Initially a one-year contract, extendable subject to performance and fund availability, and co-terminus with the project (project duration: 3 years).
• PhD Option: You may be permitted to register for a Ph.D. programme at MNNIT alongside the position, subject to eligibility.
• NOC Requirement: Candidates currently employed elsewhere must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer at the time of interview.
• No TA/DA: No travel allowance is paid for attending the interview.
• Nature of Appointment: Purely temporary — it does not confer any right to permanent absorption at the Institute.

• Carry out experimental research on hybrid sorbent-based atmospheric water harvesting systems
• Develop and test ultrasound-assisted regeneration techniques for the sorbent materials
• Support carbon capture system design, integration and performance evaluation
• Set up and calibrate IoT-based sensors and monitoring instrumentation for the experimental rig
• Record and analyse experimental data, and prepare project reports
• Assist the Principal Investigator with project documentation and research publications
• Maintain laboratory equipment and follow safety protocols
