IITR Quantum Networks JRF and RA Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) is engaging a Junior Research Fellow and Research Associate in its Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Both roles support the project Towards Trusted-Node-Free Hybrid Quantum Secure Communication Networks, sponsored by the National Quantum Mission under the Department of Science and Technology. The work combines experimental hardware, communication-network software and technical reporting, making it suitable for researchers who want direct experience with field-ready quantum security systems.
Posts and Disciplines
- Junior Research Fellow: suited to candidates from electronics, communication, computer science, physics, instrumentation or related fields who can contribute to FPGA development, quantum routing and software for secure networks.
- Research Associate: intended for an experienced researcher in electrical engineering, electronics and communication, computer science, physics or an equivalent area, with a stronger focus on testbed integration and research delivery.
Post-wise Duties
Junior Research Fellow
You will help develop the FPGA-based quantum-noise transceiver and support quantum key distribution experiments. Your work may cover quantum routing, network software and ETSI-facing interfaces for field-deployed systems. You will also organise results for project reports and related technical records.
Research Associate
You will take a lead role in setting up and operating the Quantum Key Distribution and Routing experimental testbed. The position also involves project software, progress documentation and budget-related records, so you should be comfortable moving between laboratory work and formal project delivery.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: the appointment is initially for two years and may be extended up to the project duration, subject to project needs and continued approval.
- Rolling notice: the advertisement remains open until the positions are filled; the stated closing date is the first review deadline rather than a guarantee that later applications will be considered.
- Research pathway: the selected candidate may get an opportunity to seek PhD admission, but the notice does not promise admission.
- Equal qualifications: preference may be given to SC or ST candidates when qualifications and experience are otherwise equal.
- Nationality: the project positions are open to Indian nationals only.

पात्रता मानदंड

JRF: relevant ME/MTech, BE/BTech, MSc or MCA with the specified CGPA and national-test/CFTI condition. RA: relevant PhD or three years of experience after MTech.
