IITR JRF Materials Engineering Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IITR) is hiring a Junior Research Fellow in its Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation project. The research looks at oxide-dispersion-strengthened GRX-810 alloys for demanding high-temperature use, bringing together powder processing, mechanical testing and materials characterisation. This is a project appointment rather than a regular institute post.

Your work will centre on cryo-mixing and powder forging through the powder-metallurgy route. You will also study tensile behaviour at room and high temperatures, carry out creep testing, connect the results with microstructural observations and turn the findings into clear scientific records. The role suits someone who wants hands-on exposure across alloy processing, testing and research writing instead of a narrowly defined laboratory assignment.

The project is led by Dr Vikram Dabhade and sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation. The institute notes that the selected researcher may have an opportunity to seek PhD admission under IIT Roorkee rules; this is an opportunity to apply for admission, not an automatic doctoral seat. Your appointment remains tied to the sponsored project and its continuing requirements.
