IITH Chemical Engineering JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) is hiring a Junior Research Fellow in its Department of Chemical Engineering for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation project. The study explores freezing-induced self-assembly of shape-anisotropic colloidal particles to design lightweight solid foams. This is a hands-on experimental role for someone who enjoys connecting material synthesis, microstructure and performance.

The project maps how particle aspect ratio, particle and polymer concentration, freezing rate and freezing direction influence the resulting foam. You will help build a clear relationship between microstructural features and mechanical or thermal behaviour, making the work relevant to colloids, polymers, materials processing and physical chemistry. Candidates from aligned engineering and science backgrounds can bring different strengths to the lab.

The research uses a broad experimental toolkit. Colloidal building blocks will be synthesised and assembled, then studied through optical microscopy, SEM, X-ray tomography and image analysis. Mechanical and thermal behaviour will be examined using UTM, rheometry and thermogravimetric testing, so prior wet-lab confidence can help you settle into the project quickly.
