IITGN Sports Coach Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is building a team of full-time Sports Coaches under the Program Assistant I designation for campus sport and physical education. The engagement covers individual, team, racket and aquatic disciplines, giving each coach a defined sport while also supporting institute-wide participation. The role combines coaching with programme planning and facility care, so it suits professionals who enjoy working directly with students and staff as well as organising a structured sports programme.

The campus expects coaches to make sport more accessible, not only train established teams. You will help plan sessions, conduct physical education classes and encourage regular participation by students and employees. Because records, schedules and communication form part of the work, basic computer confidence is useful alongside practical coaching ability.

Posts and Disciplines

• Lawn Tennis: Plan court sessions, teach technique and support players preparing for institute competitions.
• Table Tennis: Run skill-based indoor coaching and help participants improve match play and fitness.
• Badminton: Coach footwork, strokes and game strategy while managing safe use of the courts.
• Swimming: Lead pool sessions with close attention to technique, participation and water safety.
• Cricket: Organise net practice, field sessions and team preparation for campus fixtures.
• Athletics: Guide track-and-field training, conditioning and event-specific practice.

Post-wise Duties

Lawn Tennis Coach

You will prepare progressive court drills, supervise practice and help players build match readiness.

Table Tennis Coach

You will develop technical and tactical sessions suited to beginners as well as competitive players.

Badminton Coach

You will coach movement, racket skills and safe on-court conditioning while keeping sessions inclusive.

Swimming Coach

You will plan ability-based pool work and maintain disciplined, safety-focused sessions.

Cricket Coach

You will coordinate nets, fielding practice and team preparation across the campus programme.

Athletics Coach

You will organise running, jumping and throwing practice with event-specific conditioning.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Contract term: The appointment begins with a one-year contract and may be renewed yearly after a performance and requirement review.
• No regular claim: The engagement does not give you a right to absorption or appointment against a regular institute post.
• Campus accommodation: Shared accommodation may be offered on a chargeable basis, depending on availability.
• Travel support: IITGN does not pay TA or DA for attending the practical assessment and interview.
• Communication: The institute uses the email address in your form for correspondence, so it must remain active and correct.
• Institute discretion: IITGN may limit the number called for assessment, relax an advertisement condition, leave a position unfilled or cancel part or all of the recruitment.
• Conduct: Canvassing results in automatic disqualification.
