Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) is building a project team for a structural safety audit of bridges and the development of a Bridge Information and Management System. Post-wise Duties

Senior Research Fellow

You will support bridge inspections and condition assessments, collect and interpret field and monitoring data, and contribute to structural and numerical analysis. The role also covers foundation investigation, rehabilitation planning and preparation of clear technical reports for the project team.

A major part of the assignment is helping develop the Bridge Information and Management System. You should be comfortable turning engineering observations into organised records that can guide maintenance and safety decisions.

Project Assistant

You will keep the project’s technical and financial records in order, move files and correspondence, process bills, and support purchases. The role also involves maintaining ledgers, registers and inventory while preparing statements and routine reports.

You will coordinate with IIT Patna offices and outside vendors, handle data entry and printing, and make sure supporting papers can be found when the research team needs them. Strong organisation matters because the work connects field activity, accounts and Institute procedures.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Tenure: the Senior Research Fellow engagement starts for one year, while the Project Assistant engagement starts for six months. Extension depends on satisfactory work and continuation of the project.
• Accommodation: Institute accommodation may be offered only when it is available and approved; the HRA arrangement depends on the applicable terms.
• Shortlisting: IIT Patna may reject an incomplete email application, even when the applicant otherwise fits the role.
