Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad is engaging a Junior Research Fellow in Applied Geology through its Office of the Dean (Research and Development). The position belongs to a SERB Core Research Grant project studying Holocene sediments from the Bay of Bengal through foraminiferal, geochemical and sedimentological evidence. The project connects microscopic fossil records with past climate, oxygen-deficient marine settings and seepage effects, giving you a focused earth-science research assignment rather than a general laboratory support role.

Your work will combine micropaleontology and geochemical interpretation. You will identify foraminifera, complete census counts, assist with geological and geochemical analysis and turn the results into clear project records and reports. Candidates who already have exposure to micropaleontology, geochemistry or paleoclimatology will be better placed to contribute quickly.

The position is based in the Department of Applied Geology at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. • Project engagement: This is a sponsored-project fellowship and remains tied to the project's requirements rather than becoming a regular institute appointment.
