IIT Hyderabad Energy Assessment Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) is building a project team for its Industrial Energy Assessment Cell (IEAC) at Kandi, Sangareddy. The cell was established with support from the Kotak-IIT Madras Save Energy Mission and works with micro, small and medium enterprises to improve energy efficiency and lower their carbon footprint. This recruitment brings together project coordination and field-based engineering roles, allowing the same team to plan assessments, collect operating data, analyse energy use and help industries act on the findings. The work is contractual and closely connected to real industrial processes rather than a desk-only research assignment.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Assistant: supports planning, documentation, administration, stakeholder communication and coordination across the assessment team.
• Energy Assessment Engineer: works in electrical, mechanical or chemical engineering contexts and helps inspect energy-consuming equipment at MSME sites.
• Energy Manager: coordinates site observations, instrument use and implementation follow-up while assisting with technical recommendations.
• Energy Auditor: leads the analysis of collected data and turns site findings into practical energy-conservation measures for participating industries.

Post-wise Duties

Project Assistant

You will keep the project's day-to-day coordination moving by following up on plans, maintaining administrative records and connecting stakeholders with the technical team.

Energy Assessment Engineer

You will visit MSME facilities, record equipment data accurately and handle energy-assessment instruments. You will also keep track of instrument calibration and work with senior team members during site studies.

Energy Manager

You will coordinate with machine operators and engineers during assessments, help the auditor interpret observations and support measurement and verification follow-up after conservation measures are proposed.

Energy Auditor

You will analyse field data, frame customised energy-saving recommendations and guide industries on implementation. Follow-up visits are part of checking whether proposed measures deliver the expected results.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial term: Each role begins with a six-month contract. Project Assistant continuation depends on performance, while the engineering, manager and auditor roles may be extended annually.
• Rolling review: The principal investigator reviews applications every 15-20 days until suitable people are selected, so there is no fixed closing date in the official PDF.
• Interview and joining: Shortlisted applicants receive the online-interview schedule by email, and the notice expects immediate joining after selection.
• Field exposure: Technical team members must be ready to visit MSMEs and work around industrial equipment, operators and energy-assessment instruments.
