IIT BHU SRF Pharmaceutical Engineering Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi is engaging a Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the Department of Pharmaceutical Engineering & Technology for a Department of Biotechnology-funded project. The project combines generative artificial intelligence and predictive modelling with medicinal chemistry to identify Tau protein-targeted PROTACs for Alzheimer's disease research. You would work with Dr. Rajnish Kumar's group on a problem that connects organic drug design, laboratory characterisation and computational screening. The appointment is purely temporary, project-linked and intended for someone who can join immediately.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Appointment term: The first appointment is for one year. Renewal depends on satisfactory performance, the needs of the project and the continued availability of the sponsored work.
• Project limit: The sanctioned project can run for up to three years, but the fellowship remains co-terminus with it. Selection does not create a claim to a permanent IIT (BHU) position.
• Research focus: The role sits at the meeting point of pharmaceutical chemistry, molecular design and predictive modelling. Your work may move between synthesis planning, compound characterisation, computational studies and interpretation of research results.
• Preferred profile: Prior exposure to organic drug synthesis, analytical characterisation, computational modelling, generative AI or Python can strengthen your application. Scientific writing shown through peer-reviewed publications is also valued.
• Equal-merit preference: The notice says that, when other factors are equal, preference will be given to SC or ST candidates in line with Government of India rules.
• Immediate joining: The selected fellow is expected to join without delay. You should consider your present notice period or academic commitments before applying.

• Interview expenses: IIT (BHU) will not pay TA or DA if you are called for an interview. Travel and stay arrangements, if the interaction is held in person, remain your responsibility.
• Research supervision: The project is led by Dr. Rajnish Kumar, Associate Professor in Pharmaceutical Engineering & Technology. The fellow's work will follow the project's approved objectives and the principal investigator's research plan.
