IIT BHU JRF Network Traffic Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi (IIT BHU) is recruiting Junior Research Fellows for a cybersecurity research project based in its Computer Science and Engineering department. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) funds the work on Network Traffic Classification. You would join a project research team at Varanasi through a temporary appointment linked to the project.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial appointment: You join for one year, with the possibility of annual extensions up to the project period of 2.5 years. An extension depends on your performance or an extension of the project; it is not automatic.
• Project-linked service: The fellowship ends with the project. The notice describes the appointment as temporary and tied to the project, so you should plan your commitment around that arrangement.
• Research fit: The project investigator can limit the number of people called for discussion according to the project’s needs. Meeting the minimum requirements alone does not guarantee that you will be called.
• Exceptional applicants: The institute keeps discretion to consider applicants with particularly strong credentials, including relaxation of qualifications or experience. • Doctoral study: You may be considered for the institute’s Ph.D. programme if you meet its separate admission conditions. Your overall performance also matters, so the fellowship does not itself guarantee doctoral admission.
