Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati (IISER Tirupati) is hiring a Research Associate-1 for an externally funded project in its Department of Physics. The work sits in Experimental High Energy Physics and focuses on how jets interact with extreme quantum chromodynamics matter.

The project, Understanding the topological aspects of extreme QCD matter through their interactions with jets, is led by Dr. Nihar Ranjan Sahoo. It gives you the chance to work with modern collider-physics methods while contributing to a focused research question involving heavy-ion systems, jet physics and hard probes.

This is a project research role, not a regular institute appointment. It is best suited to a doctoral researcher who can work independently with physics data, computational tools and simulation frameworks while coordinating closely with the principal investigator.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project appointment: The role is tied to the ANRF-funded project and follows the funding agency's applicable conditions.
• Tenure: The first appointment is for one year. An additional year is possible only after a satisfactory performance review, with two years as the overall limit.
• Temporary status: The appointment ends when the research project closes, without creating a right to a permanent or absorbed post at IISER Tirupati.
• Joining: The person selected should be ready to join immediately after receiving the offer.
• Travel support: The institute will not pay TA or DA for attending the interview.
• Academic credentials: Degrees must come from recognised universities or institutions. Meeting the minimum academic standard by itself does not guarantee further consideration.
