IIIT Surat JRF Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Information Technology Surat (IIIT Surat), an Institute of National Importance in Gujarat, is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a sponsored research project on wireless communication in wave-denied environments. The project is called Analysis and Prototyping of Wireless Communications in Wave-Denied Environments: A Molecular Layer Aspect of 6G (WiC-WD6G). It is funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under the Prime Minister's Early Career Research Grant (sanction file ANRF/ECRG/2024/000326).

The Principal Investigator is Dr. Lokendra Chouhan, Assistant Professor (Grade-I). This is a project-based, contractual fellowship for one year, extendable under ANRF norms. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fellowship rate: the higher fellowship applies only if you were selected through CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship) or GATE, or through another national-level exam run by a central government agency; everyone else gets the lower rate.
• Tenure: the post is tied to the project; it runs for one year and can be extended only as per ANRF norms.
• Experience certificate: if you leave before completing at least one year, you will not get an experience certificate. Leaving the project early is strongly discouraged.
• Notice period: either you or the PI can end the engagement with one month's written notice.
• Ph.D. route: conversion to an Institute Ph.D. position depends on satisfactory performance, seat availability and IIIT Surat's rules.
• Employed applicants: if you work in a government, semi-government or private job, you must give a No Objection Certificate after shortlisting and before the interview.
• Shortlisting: having the qualification does not guarantee an interview call; shortlisting follows the needs of the project, and the institute may relax qualifications for exceptional candidates.

• Build theoretical and mathematical models of wireless and molecular communication channels in wave-denied environments
• Analyse diffusion-based channels using first-passage and hitting-time methods and stochastic processes
• Run numerical simulations in MATLAB or Python and validate the results through experiments
• Develop hardware prototypes, including Arduino and microcontroller-based setups
• Write research papers and technical reports and share the project outcomes
• Help widen the project scope and prepare research proposals for future funding
