ICMR-National Institute of Health Research, Dibrugarh (ICMR-NIHR) is engaging consultants for its scientific and finance requirements in Assam. Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Consultant (Scientific-Non-Medical): This is the scientific specialist role within the engagement. The notice assesses applicants against their area of specialisation.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial term: Your first engagement can last up to one year. An extension depends on the work available, timely completion of tasks and a satisfactory performance review. The total engagement cannot exceed five years.
• Exclusive engagement: You cannot hold another paid position during this full-time contract. Your working hours will follow those of regular ICMR employees.
• Contract status: The engagement does not give you a right to a regular ICMR job, absorption, transfer to another project or a later assignment. You must sign an undertaking accepting the contractual status before joining.
• Continuation: Funding, functional needs and approval from the competent authority determine whether the institute fills the positions. It may change or cancel the recruitment, and it can end an engagement during the agreed term.
• Leave: Paid leave may accrue at 1.5 days for each completed month. Unused leave does not carry into a renewed contract, and you cannot take more than five days together. Absence beyond authorised leave is unpaid.
• Attendance: Eight continuous days of unauthorised absence without a valid reason can automatically end the engagement. Working beyond office hours does not bring an extra benefit.
• Travel for assessment: You must arrange and pay for your own journey and accommodation when attending a test, interview or discussion.
• Conduct: The contract requires confidentiality, honesty and compliance with institutional rules. A conflict of interest or unsatisfactory service can lead to immediate discontinuation. Canvassing or outside influence can disqualify you.
• Insurance and accountability: You are responsible for arranging appropriate insurance at your own cost. Consultants must also cooperate with investigations and audits relating to their contracts.
