ICAR IARI SRF and YP I Recruitment 2026: Overview

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) is recruiting a Senior Research Fellow and Young Professional-I for the Division of Genetics at Pusa, New Delhi. Both roles support the National Mission on High Yielding Seeds in Pigeonpea, an ICAR-funded project focused on crop improvement. The engagement is project-based and suited to candidates who want practical exposure to genetics, plant breeding, biotechnology and agricultural research support.

The recruitment uses a walk-in interview, so there is no separate online application portal. You should choose the role that matches your academic background and take the prescribed form to the Division of Genetics. Research credentials matter for the fellowship, while the professional role also recognises practical agricultural and life-science training.

Posts and Disciplines

• Senior Research Fellow: A research position in the pigeonpea component for candidates trained in Genetics, Plant Breeding or Biotechnology. Molecular breeding and computer-application experience will be useful.
• Young Professional-I: An agricultural project-support position for candidates with Agricultural Science or Life Science training. Hands-on work with molecular markers, emasculation and pollination is desirable.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Research Fellow

You will contribute to pigeonpea genetics and breeding research, organise experimental data and assist with molecular-breeding activities. The work may include coordinating trials, interpreting observations and preparing research records for the project team.

Young Professional-I

You will support field, laboratory and office activities for the pigeonpea component. Depending on the work plan, you may help with marker work, controlled pollination, sample tracking, data entry and routine coordination.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The SRF engagement initially runs with the project up to 31 March 2027 and may continue until project completion after a satisfactory-performance review.
• YP-I tenure: The initial appointment is for one year and may be extended according to performance, project progress and fund availability.
• No regular claim: Both positions are temporary, time-bound and co-terminus with the project. Selection does not create a right to a regular IARI or ICAR post.
• Conduct: False claims, concealed facts or canvassing can lead to disqualification or termination.
• Travel: No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview.
• Deductions: Income tax and other applicable taxes will be deducted under prevailing rules.
• Jurisdiction: Disputes relating to this engagement fall within New Delhi courts.

Application Submission Notes

Report to the Division of Genetics, ICAR-IARI, Pusa, New Delhi 110012 from 10:00 AM on the notified interview day. Bring the typed or neatly filled prescribed form, with your photograph attached, for submission at the venue.

If a near or distant relative works for ICAR or IARI, send the required relationship declaration in advance to rajeranjeet@gmail.com and also carry the signed declaration. All other attendees must submit the no-relative declaration provided with the notice.

Original certificates will be checked at the venue, while one self-attested photocopy set stays with the institute. Keep the originals and copies arranged in the same order as the application form so verification can be completed smoothly.
