FMU Guest Faculty and Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026: Overview

Fakir Mohan University (FMU) is holding walk-in interviews for Guest Faculty in regular postgraduate departments and temporary Assistant Professors in self-financing course programmes at its new campus in Balasore. The shared notice covers arts, sciences, professional studies, law, education and social-science subjects. You can attend only for the group and subject that matches your academic background.

The two groups have different employment conditions. Guest Faculty support the university's regular PG teaching and may also assist with departmental administration, while the temporary Assistant Professor group serves SFC programmes with classroom and assigned university duties. The university will use a scrutiny or screening check followed by the scheduled interview, so your form and academic record need to clearly show the subject for which you are attending.

Posts and Disciplines

• Guest Faculty in regular PG departments: Botany, Business Management, Chemistry, Commerce, Computer Science, Geography, History and Archaeology, Urdu Language and Literature, Physics, Political Science and Zoology.
• Assistant Professor in SFC programmes: Applied Microbiology, Applied Psychology, Anthropology, Atmospheric Science, Integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed., Library and Information Science, Law, PMIR, Sanskrit, Social Work, and Yoga and Naturopathy.

Post-wise Duties

Guest Faculty

You will teach the allotted postgraduate classes in your subject and help with departmental academic and administrative work assigned by the university. Your teaching load determines the payable hours, and the engagement ends when its stated temporary period or the filling of a substantive post reaches the applicable limit.

Temporary Assistant Professor

You will take classes in the relevant self-financing programme, guide students in your discipline and handle other academic duties assigned by the university. You are expected to remain available for the teaching work attached to the programme during the engagement.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Guest Faculty tenure: The engagement lasts for up to one year or until the substantive post is filled, whichever happens first. It creates no claim to a regular post.
• Assistant Professor status: The appointment is purely temporary and may be ended by the university without prior notice or a stated reason. It offers no right to regularisation or further continuation.
• Outside work: A temporary Assistant Professor cannot take another assignment elsewhere without written permission from FMU.
• Leave: Temporary Assistant Professors may use up to 10 days of casual leave in a year when needed.
• Travel: The university will not pay TA or DA for attending the interview or joining the post.
• University discretion: FMU may make an appointment, cancel an interview or change the interview process.

Application Submission Notes

Download and fill the prescribed form from the FMU website, then attend the walk-in with the original and photocopied certificates, marksheets, publications, experience proof and other relevant records. Report to the Administrative Block, New Campus, Nuapadhi, Balasore one hour before your subject's interview; the interviews take place in the Vice-Chancellor's Chamber.

Guest Faculty subjects are scheduled on 16 September 2026, while Assistant Professor subjects are scheduled on 17 September 2026. Each subject has its own time in the official schedule, so check the PDF carefully and arrive one hour earlier rather than using the first interview time for every discipline.
