DMRC Head Operations Recruitment 2026: Overview

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) — the joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of the NCT of Delhi that runs the Delhi metro network — is looking for a Head Operations to lead the Operations Department for the operations and maintenance work of Mumbai Metro Line-3. The advertisement is DMRC/PERS/22/HR/2026(234), post code 01/HO/MML3. This is an HOD-level position, so DMRC is looking for serving or retired officers from government organisations, Railways, PSUs or metro organisations who have already run train operations at a senior level. Note that the posting is in Mumbai, not Delhi — DMRC is engaged in the O&M work of the city's underground Line-3 corridor.

Posts and Disciplines

DMRC will fill the position through any one of three engagement routes, and you tick the route you are applying under in the application form.

• Deputation: for officers serving on a regular basis in a government organisation, Railways, a PSU or a metro organisation. You keep drawing your parent department pay and get an incentive on top of it. The normal tenure is five years, extendable to seven years in special cases or until you superannuate, whichever comes first.
• Post Retirement Contractual Engagement (PRCE): for officers who have retired from the eligible grades, and for serving officers who are willing to retire through VRS or otherwise before joining DMRC. The initial engagement runs for one year and can be extended on satisfactory performance.
• Contractual Engagement: for candidates presently working in a government organisation, Railways, a PSU or a metro organisation at the JGM, AGM or GM level of annual CTC. This route is the only one that asks for a bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline, and the initial engagement is for three years.

Post-wise Duties

Head Operations

You will own the daily running of Mumbai Metro Line-3 — every revenue and non-revenue train, the train and station crews, the terminals, the yards and the stations. Transportation services planning sits with you, and so does the safety and security of both passengers and staff. A large part of the job is dealing with the outside world: you will be in daily contact with external agencies, third parties, contractors and consultants working on the line.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Vacancy is provisional: DMRC states that the number of positions may go up or down.
• Place of posting: Your initial posting is in Mumbai for the O&M work of Mumbai Metro Line-3. You remain liable to be posted or transferred to any office or project site of the corporation in India or abroad.
• Clean record: You must be free from D&AR and vigilance angle, and you have to submit a vigilance and D&AR clearance in the prescribed proforma.
• Through proper channel: If you are currently employed, your application must come forwarded by the cadre controlling authority of your parent organisation. Advance copies will not be entertained under any circumstances.
• Surety bond on contractual engagement: If you join on the contractual route, you sign a surety bond and serve DMRC for a minimum of two years, leaving out any period of leave without pay. One month's notice is needed before you resign.
• Leave on contractual engagement: Eight days of casual leave on a pro-rata basis and 18 days of earned leave, at 1.5 days for each completed month of service.
• Medical cover on contractual engagement: You arrange your own health insurance; DMRC does not provide medical coverage on this route. PF is deducted as prescribed under the EPF & MP Act 1952.
• No regularisation: Engagement on the contractual and post-retirement routes carries no claim to regular employment in the company. On expiry of the term the engagement ends automatically, and either side can end it earlier with one month's notice or pay in lieu.
• Character and antecedents: Selection alone does not confer a right to engagement — DMRC may inquire into your character and antecedents before engaging you.
• False information: If anything you furnish is found false or incorrect, the engagement is void from the start and is terminated at once.

Apply in the DMRC application format at Annexure-I of the notification, with a recent self-attested passport-size photograph affixed on it, filled in capital letters. Serving and retired officers both have to attach the Annexure-II proforma carrying the vigilance and D&AR clearance.
