DIAT Project Scientist II and SPA Recruitment 2026: Overview
Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) is engaging a Project Scientist II and Senior Project Associate for the consultancy project Biogas to Methane to Hydrogen. The work sits in the Department of Applied Chemistry, Energy & Environment and connects laboratory research with practical clean-energy engineering. Both roles are full-time project engagements, but their day-to-day focus and place of work are different.
The project is built around gas conversion, hydrogen technology and reactor engineering. It should suit researchers who are comfortable moving between experimental planning, high-pressure systems, safety procedures and technical reporting. Post-wise Duties
Project Scientist II
You will plan and carry out hydrogen-generation and storage experiments, interpret the results, and connect the findings with the wider biogas-to-hydrogen project. The role also calls for careful handling of gaseous reactions, reactor systems and fire-safety controls. You should be ready to turn experimental findings into reports and research articles.
Senior Project Associate
You will support the design, fabrication and operation of high-pressure reactors at the partner facility. Your work will involve coordinating experiments, checking safe operating conditions, maintaining clear technical records and helping the project team assess reactor performance. Hands-on industrial research is an important part of this assignment.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Project tenure: the appointments are purely temporary and run for the stated project period or until the project ends, whichever comes first.
- Work location: the Project Scientist II works full-time at DIAT, while the Senior Project Associate works full-time at Bhumi Green Envirocare, Magarpatta, Pune.
- No absorption claim: the engagement does not create a right to a regular DIAT post, and it may end with one month's notice.
- Medical support: access is limited to the institute's MI Room facilities.
- Travel costs: DIAT will not pay TA or DA for attending the walk-in.

Project Scientist II: PhD in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. Senior Project Associate: ME/MTech in Chemical Engineering or Energy with First Division at graduate and postgraduate levels.

Sound knowledge of reactor engineering, gaseous reactions and technology, high-pressure reactors, fire safety and engineering; applied-research aptitude and the ability to plan experiments and write reports and articles.
