DIA CoE IIT BHU Director Recruitment 2026: Overview
The DRDO Industry Academia-Centre of Excellence (DIA-CoE), IIT (BHU), Varanasi is recruiting a Director to serve as its administrative and executive head. The centre was established through an agreement between the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University). Its purpose is to bring researchers, faculty, start-ups, industries and other institutes together for directed technology research, with this leadership appointment offered on a full-time contract.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Initial appointment: You will join on a contract for 3 years. This is a full-time leadership position at the centre in Varanasi.
- Possible extension: The competent authority may extend the appointment for another 2 years after reviewing your performance. The extension depends on that review and is not automatic.
- Early ending of the contract: Either you or the centre can end the appointment before the initial term finishes by giving 3 months of notice. The advertisement permits either side to do so without giving a reason.
- Joining declaration: If selected, you must provide a declaration for joining the post within 30 days of the appointment letter being issued. Keep this condition in mind if you are currently working elsewhere.
- Research setting: The centre's directed applied research spans Powder Metallurgy, Functional Material, High Power Microwave Source and Device, and Ceramics. The appointment sits within this multidisciplinary setting and connects academic research with DRDO's technology needs.
