CSIR National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) is engaging Project Associate-I staff for the GAP-3087 research project at Nagpur. The project studies a bioelectrochemical system for improved carbon capture using methanotrophic and methylotrophic bacteria, along with their role in plant-growth-promoting activity. It is a practical laboratory assignment for science postgraduates who want experience at the intersection of environmental biotechnology, microbiology and waste-to-resource research.

The position sits within a focused research team rather than a general administrative unit. Your work will combine anaerobic reactor handling, sampling and bacteriological analysis with chemical testing, data management and scientific reporting. Candidates comfortable moving between laboratory benches and structured datasets will be better placed for the project’s day-to-day demands. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The engagement is purely temporary and co-terminus with GAP-3087. It does not create a right to regular appointment in CSIR or CSIR-NEERI.
• Additional positions: The notice mentions anticipated openings that depend on funding. Candidates may be considered from the waiting list, but the confirmed count remains separate from those possible positions.
• Contract ceiling: Prior service as project staff in CSIR laboratories counts toward the maximum contractual tenure allowed under the applicable CSIR guidelines.
• Joining conditions: Selection remains subject to medical examination, character verification and other pre-appointment checks. The selected person is expected to join within the period stated in the offer.
• Confidentiality: You must sign an undertaking covering project findings and related intellectual property.
• Continuation: Extension depends on project need, available funds, performance and conduct. A review committee may assess your work before recommending further engagement.
• Exit terms: Either side may end the engagement with one month’s notice; a candidate leaving may instead pay one month’s salary unless the competent authority relaxes that condition.
• Accommodation and travel: You must arrange your own accommodation in Nagpur. No TA is paid for attending the offline interview.
