Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani), K. K. Birla Goa Campus is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow in its Department of Biological Sciences for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation-supported project. The study, led by Dr. Sonal Ayakar, focuses on enhanced fermentative enzyme production through synthetic biology for biorefinery applications, bringing together biotechnology, fermentation technology and molecular biology.

Your work will sit at the point where microbial fermentation and enzyme science meet practical biorefinery research. The project is a good fit if you enjoy hands-on laboratory work and want to build deeper experience with microbial systems, molecular techniques, enzyme kinetics and chromatographic analysis. National-level research eligibility is central to the appointment, so the role is aimed at candidates who have already cleared an accepted national selection route.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The research project runs for 24 months, and the fellowship is tied to this sponsored work.
• Joining: The selected researcher is expected to join within about one month after the application deadline, subject to the institute's communication.
• Research environment: You will work with the principal investigator in the Biological Sciences department at the K. K. Birla Goa Campus.
• Interview travel: No TA or DA will be paid if the final interview is conducted in person.
• Accommodation: Hostel accommodation may be offered only when space is available and will follow the institute rules in force when you join.
• Doctoral route: The selected fellow will have an opportunity to apply to the BITS Pilani PhD programme; admission is separate and remains subject to the programme's rules.
