BHU Dr SRK Internship in Psychology Recruitment 2026: Overview

Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, is offering the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (SRK) Internship in Psychology for the 2026-27 cycle. The internship is funded under the university's Institution of Eminence (IoE) scheme and is run by the Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy Cell (SRICC), with the Psychology discipline coordinated by Prof. Nishat Afroz. This is a paid, fixed-term internship, not a regular university post — it is meant to give fresh counselling diploma holders a full year of hands-on work with a monthly stipend.

The biggest thing to note is that the internship is only for BHU's own students. You can apply only if you finished one of the university's one-year PG Diploma programmes in counselling during the 2025-26 academic session. Posts and Disciplines

• Psychology: ten internships under the SRK scheme, open to graduates of the PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and the PG Diploma in Counselling, Guidance and Psychological Intervention from BHU. Both diplomas are treated equally for this call.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• BHU students only: Your one-year PG Diploma must be from Banaras Hindu University and completed in the 2025-26 session.
• Marks and back papers: You need at least 60% aggregate marks in the diploma, and you must not have any back paper in any semester. A single back paper makes you ineligible even if your aggregate is high.
• Fixed tenure: The internship runs for exactly one year, from 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027. There is no mention of extension or regular absorption.
• Stipend, not salary: You receive a fixed monthly stipend under the IoE scheme, so the usual government pay benefits do not apply.
• Reservation: Seats are filled with reservation as per university rules.
• Selection basis: BHU picks interns on your academic record plus an interview, so your diploma marks carry real weight.

Application Submission Notes

Download the prescribed application form from the BHU website, fill it in and attach all supporting documents. You cannot send it directly — the form must be forwarded through your Head of the Department to the Dean of Students, Banaras Hindu University, and it must get there by Wednesday, 30 September 2026. Since the HoD has to sign off first, give your department a few days before the deadline.

The interview is planned for the first week of October 2026 in the Committee Room (F-3) near the Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy Cell, Central Office Annexe, BHU. Keep an eye on the BHU website and your department notice board for the exact date.
