Bharathiar University, Coimbatore – 641046, Tamil Nadu, has invited applications for 1 Project Associate post to work with the Biomedical Research Lab, Department of Botany, on a research project titled 'Decoding the dark taxa in symbiosis; exploring the endolichenic fungi through polyphasic taxonomy and harnessing their bioprospecting potential for breast cancer therapeutics'. The project runs for 3 years and is a collaboration between Bharathiar University and the Agharkar Research Institute, Pune, Maharashtra. As a Project Associate, you will help study endolichenic fungi (fungi living inside lichens) using polyphasic taxonomy methods and explore how their bioactive compounds could support breast cancer treatment. This is a good opportunity for life sciences graduates interested in fungal taxonomy and cancer-related bioprospecting research.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: Ph.D./M.Phil./M.Sc. in Botany, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or any other Allied Life Sciences/Biological Sciences.
• Additional requirement: A national-level qualifying exam such as CSIR/ICAR/UGC/ICMR/DBT.
• Desirable: Research experience with good publications in peer-reviewed journals, an interdisciplinary mindset, and knowledge of extracting, screening, and evaluating bioactive compounds for breast cancer therapeutics.

Since this project spans taxonomy, microbiology, and cancer bioprospecting, candidates with a mixed background in fungal biology and basic laboratory bioassay techniques will have an advantage. Salary
