The Department of Microbiology at Bharathidasan University, home to the National Repository for Microalgae and Cyanobacteria - Marine (NRMC-F&M), is hiring for a Department of Biotechnology (DBT) sponsored project titled "Sustainable and translational biorefinery approach using solar photovoltaics and pulsed electric/magnetic field for valorizing cyanobacterial/microalgal biomass". The project runs for two years under the supervision of Dr. G. Muralitharan, Professor, Department of Microbiology. Three positions are open — one each for Research Associate-II, Project Associate-I, and Project Assistant. No written exam is required — selection is entirely through a walk-in interview.

Who Can Apply?

For Research Associate-II (Rs. 71,980/month):

• Qualification: Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or an equivalent field from a recognized university.
• Experience: At least 3 years of experience in cyanobacterial/microalgal research in industrial or academic institutions, with a proven publication record (mandatory). Prior experience in cultivation, downstream processing, and characterization is preferred.

For Project Associate-I (Rs. 29,500/month):

• Qualification: M.Sc. in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or an equivalent field.
• Experience: Research experience in cyanobacterial/microalgal isolation, cultivation, and mass cultivation is preferred.

For Project Assistant (Rs. 23,600/month):

• Qualification: B.Tech/M.Tech in Biotechnology (or Integrated Biotechnology), or B.Sc./M.Sc. in Botany, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or any life sciences discipline.
• Experience: Hands-on experience with microalgal/cyanobacterial culture purification and maintenance is preferred.

Salary

• Research Associate-II: Rs. 61,000 basic + 18% HRA (Rs. 10,980) = Rs. 71,980 per month.
• Project Associate-I: Rs. 25,000 basic + 18% HRA (Rs. 4,500) = Rs. 29,500 per month.
• Project Assistant: Rs. 20,000 basic + 18% HRA (Rs. 3,600) = Rs. 23,600 per month.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is done through a walk-in interview:
