ASDMA District Project Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) is recruiting District Project Officers (DPOs) for the District Disaster Management Authorities in Bajali and Tamulpur. You will work at a district headquarters under the Deputy Commissioner, supporting the district’s disaster-management work through a contractual engagement.

The role connects the district administration with local disaster-preparedness efforts. Its scope includes work with blocks, gram panchayats and villages, alongside government teams and community organisations.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial contract: The engagement starts for one year. Annual renewal depends on satisfactory performance and available funds, so you should not assume that an extension will follow automatically.
• No regular appointment claim: This contract gives you no right to regularisation or a later appointment to this or another post. Your service ends automatically when the contract expires unless it is renewed.
• Posting and travel: Bajali and Tamulpur are the initial district postings. You may need to serve elsewhere in Assam, move to another office or travel for project work while the employment terms continue to apply.
• Working hours: You follow the working hours of Assam government employees. Disaster-related work can also call for duties beyond normal office hours when the situation demands it.
• Leave: The contract provides 12 days of casual leave, with other leave governed by the Assam Leave Rules.
• Ending the contract: Either side can end the agreement with 15 working days of written notice. The authority may also terminate service for misconduct, breach of terms or failure to perform the work.
• Handover: If your engagement ends, you must help transfer ongoing work and return the authority’s property and records. Missing property can lead to recovery of damages, and an incomplete handover can delay your release.
• Confidentiality: Information and material provided by ASDMA must remain confidential. This obligation continues after the contract ends, and disclosure needs the authority’s prior written permission.
• Outside work: You need written permission before taking up another business or activity that could harm the authority’s interests. The office must be used for the work for which you are engaged.
• Conduct and disputes: Assam government conduct, discipline and leave rules apply alongside ASDMA’s operating policies. Guwahati’s courts and tribunals have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes concerning the contract.
• Recruitment attendance: ASDMA will not pay travel or daily allowance for attending the recruitment assessments. It also retains the right to accept or reject an application.
