The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has invited applications from practising Advocates for empanelment as Assistant Editors to prepare head-notes of reportable judgments of the Hon'ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh for the Digi-APLR Portal. A head-note is a short, precise summary of the key legal points of a judgment, placed at the start of the judgment so that lawyers, judges and researchers can quickly grasp its ruling without reading the full text — accurate head-note writing is a specialised legal-editorial skill. This is a voluntary empanelment engagement, not a regular salaried post — empanelled Assistant Editors render services at the pleasure of the High Court and must submit head-notes within 7 days of judgment allocation by their Senior Editor. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must be a practising Advocate with a minimum of 3 years' standing at the Bar Council, reckoned from your date of enrollment.
• Skills: Strong drafting, editorial and legal research skills are needed to prepare accurate head-notes.
• Engagement Type: This is a voluntary empanelment for a period of 2 years from the date of appointment. Empanelled Assistant Editors render services at the pleasure of the High Court.
• Turnaround Time: Empanelled Assistant Editors must prepare and submit head-notes within 7 days from the date of allocation of judgments by their Senior Editor.

Selection Process

Empanelment as Assistant Editor is done in 2 stages:

1. Stage I - Written Test: You will be given 4 judgments and asked to prepare a head-note for 1 of them.
2. Stage II - Personal Interview: Candidates who qualify in Stage I are shortlisted for a personal interview.

On successful completion of both stages, selected candidates will be issued offer letters for engagement as Assistant Editors. The date, time and venue for Stage I and Stage II will be informed in due course, so keep checking the official website regularly.

2. Register and fill in the online application form.
