NSU Project Lab Technician Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Sports University (NSU), Imphal, a central university under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is engaging a Project Lab Technician for a sports-health research project. The work sits in the Department of Sports Physiology and Nutrition and supports a multi-centre study on low energy availability and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs) among Indian athletes. If you have laboratory training and are comfortable working outside a conventional lab, this project offers a mix of athlete assessment and sample-handling work.

The technician will support the project's Junior Research Fellow and principal investigator during field activity in northern and north-eastern areas. That makes careful blood-sample collection, preservation and tracking especially important. You should expect to work with a research team, follow study protocols and help keep field assessments consistent across locations.

This is a project-linked contractual engagement, not a permanent university appointment. The initial tenure is for one year and may be extended if your performance is satisfactory and the project continues to need the role. Joining the project does not create a right to regular appointment, permanent absorption or continued contractual work at NSU or the ministry.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The appointment starts as a one-year temporary engagement and can be extended based on satisfactory work.
• Contract: The selected person must sign a contract when joining. Either side may end the engagement with one month's notice.
• Travel for assessment: The job involves field-based activity in different parts of northern and north-eastern India, alongside work connected with the Imphal university team.
• Interview arrangements: NSU may offer online and offline participation. If you choose the offline option, you must arrange your own travel and stay, and no TA or DA is paid.
• Government employees: If you already work in government service, bring a valid No Objection Certificate from your present employer.
• Original records: You must show original certificates and provide self-attested copies when called. Missing records can prevent participation or appointment.
• Updates: Keep checking the NSU website because interview information, results and joining updates will be placed there.
• Incomplete forms: NSU can reject applications that are incomplete in any respect, and canvassing leads to disqualification.
