Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health (LGBRIMH) is hiring Senior Residents in Psychiatry for the HEADS research project at Tezpur, Assam. Funded by the Wellcome Trust, United Kingdom, the project studies how artificial intelligence can help clinicians assess depression across languages.

HEADS stands for Human-in-the-loop Evaluation of Assisted Depression Screening. The collaboration brings together the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, as lead institution, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, and LGBRIMH; your engagement is tied to the project at the Tezpur site.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project appointment: This is a temporary, contractual engagement that ends with the project. It gives you no right to a regular appointment, absorption or continued employment in another institute post or project.
• Tenure: The initial term is one year. It may extend up to 24 months or the project duration, whichever ends earlier, depending on performance, project needs and available funds.
• Exclusive commitment: You must work full time for HEADS. The institute will not assign you duties outside the project, and private practice is not permitted during the engagement.
• Professional development: The funding arrangement provides 10 days each year for approved continuing professional development activities.
• Confidentiality: You must protect participant privacy and project data, follow the approved research protocol and ethics conditions, and sign a confidentiality undertaking when joining. A breach can lead to immediate termination and further legal action.
• Ending the engagement: Either side may end the contract with one month's notice or one month's consolidated pay instead. LGBRIMH may terminate it without notice for poor performance, misconduct, or closure or reduction of the project or its funding.
• Campus housing: Accommodation may be offered if available, with charges under institute rules. You cannot claim campus accommodation as an entitlement.
• Leave and travel: Leave follows the rules for contractual project staff and the project sanction. The institute will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview.
• Recruitment discretion: The institute may change the number of positions or cancel, modify or limit recruitment. Canvassing leads to disqualification, and disputes fall under the courts at Tezpur.

• Conduct psychiatric interviews and assessments using QuickSCID-5 and PHQ-9 under the study protocol.
• Record interviews and securely store, transfer and remove identifying details from participant data.
• Annotate diagnostic reasoning and check Assamese and Bengali transcripts and translations.
• Join exercises that compare clinical ratings, research meetings and project training.
• Provide clinical input to artificial intelligence development and evaluation with NIMHANS and IIT Kharagpur teams.
• Keep study records, case report forms and research documentation up to date.
