ITBP Head Constable Education and Stress Counsellor Recruitment 2026: Overview
Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBPF), under the Ministry of Home Affairs, is recruiting Head Constables in Education and Stress Counselling. These are General Central Service Group C posts, classified as non-gazetted and non-ministerial, with liability to serve in India or abroad. The notice describes the appointments as temporary but likely to become permanent; joining also brings a substantial minimum-service commitment.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Posting liability: You may be sent anywhere in India or abroad. The recruitment does not promise a posting in your home state, so consider the force-wide nature of service before applying.
- Service framework: Your appointment will follow the ITBPF Act, 1992, the ITBPF Rules, 1994, and other rules applicable to the force. These conditions govern the uniformed appointment described in this notice.
- Minimum service: You must serve for at least ten years. If you resign earlier, the notice requires repayment equal to three months’ pay and allowances attached to the post or the cost of training, whichever is higher. This condition matters when assessing the long-term commitment.
- Training: Selected applicants must complete Basic Training and other courses prescribed by the force. Appointment therefore includes the training requirements that ITBPF sets for its personnel.
- Recruitment changes: The notified openings are tentative and may change. ITBPF may also change the order of recruitment activities, postpone the exercise or cancel it for administrative reasons.
- Ex-servicemen reservation: A horizontal reservation of 10% applies within the relevant post and category. If suitable ex-servicemen are unavailable, those places may be filled by other applicants from the same category.
- Women’s reservation: If suitable women are unavailable within a vertical reservation category, the notice allows the corresponding places to be filled by men belonging to that category, under the stated Ministry guidelines.
- Own-merit treatment: Reserved-category applicants selected without relaxed standards are considered against unreserved places according to their merit position. The reserved places are then filled separately under the applicable rules.
- Application accuracy: Incorrect profile information can cancel your candidature. The notice does not allow later changes to such details, so check your entries carefully before completing the form.
- Official updates: Further recruitment notices will appear on the ITBPF recruitment website. You need to follow those notices yourself; the force does not accept responsibility for technical problems you face while applying.
