Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for a project in its Department of Electrical Engineering. The project studies AI-based Cyber-Physical Protection and Monitoring in Digital Substations, with Dr. Bhaveshkumar R. Bhalja as the principal investigator. This is a project appointment at Roorkee, supported by GE Renewable Energy Technologies Limited, Hyderabad, Telangana.

The research setting is an IEC-61850-based digital substation. Here, electrical equipment and digital communication operate together, so cyber risks can affect how protection and monitoring work. The project brings artificial intelligence into that setting, with attention to the practical constraints faced by power utilities.

The project scope covers process-bus and station-bus environments, where sampled values, event logs and equipment-condition inputs coexist. It also includes GOOSE and MMS communication within the substation. Service Conditions and Caveats
