GSSSB Research Assistant and Statistical Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board (GSSSB), Gandhinagar, is filling Research Assistant and Statistical Assistant Class-3 posts for the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Gandhinagar, a head of department under the General Administration Department of the Government of Gujarat, through Advertisement No. 457/202627. These are regular posts filled by direct recruitment on the state's fixed-pay pattern, and a Board-conducted competitive written examination decides the merit list. Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fixed pay: the first five years are on fixed monthly pay under the Finance Department resolutions of 16 February 2006 and their amendments; regular pay in the 7th Pay Commission scale follows satisfactory completion of that period, subject to the outcome of SLP No. 14124/2012 and SLP No. 14125/2012 pending before the Supreme Court.
• Reservation: reserved posts and the related relaxations are for candidates of Gujarat-origin reserved categories only; the posts reserved for persons with disabilities in these cadres will be advertised separately under a special recruitment drive.
• Women's sub-quota: where a post reserved for women in a category cannot be filled, it goes to a male candidate of the same category; the remaining posts are open to both men and women on merit.
• Number of posts: the advertisement notes that the number of posts may change.
• Category lock: the category entered in the confirmed online application cannot be changed afterwards, and a wrong entry can cancel the application.
• Certificates: you must already hold every certificate you claim in the form (education, age, category, disability, ex-servicemen status and school-leaving proof) when you apply.
• Serving employees: candidates already in Gujarat Government service may get age relaxation under the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
