Post-wise Duties

Full-time Specialist

You will attend the hospital from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays and from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays. You must also make emergency visits when the hospital needs them.

Part-time Specialist

You will work 4 hours a day on 4 days each week. If you opt for the emergency-call arrangement, you may also attend calls outside your regular duty hours under the hospital's applicable instructions.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial contract: the engagement lasts for one year, or ends earlier when a regular specialist joins. For full-time specialists, the notice allows a further two-year extension based on satisfactory performance.
• Continuation: extensions depend on a vacancy remaining available and satisfactory work. The hospital can end the engagement early if performance is unsatisfactory or the vacancy no longer exists.
• Contract agreement: you may need to sign an agreement on bond paper at your own expense. Either party can end the agreement with one month's written notice or a payment equal to one month's salary.
• Regular appointment: this contract gives you no right or preference for a regular ESIC post. Joining is immediate or on the date stated in the appointment offer.
• Private practice: full-time specialists cannot practise privately during their working hours at ESIC Model Hospital, Rourkela.
• Accommodation and travel: the hospital does not provide hostel accommodation or quarters. You will not receive travel or daily allowance for attending the interview.
• Hospital discretion: openings may change with actual requirements. The Medical Superintendent can fill all or some posts, change the interview date or cancel the interview; the selection board's decision is final.
