Associate and Assistant Professor posts use direct recruitment.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Probation: Regular appointments are subject to review and a two-year probation period. The institute will not issue a no-objection certificate for applying elsewhere during that period.
• Deputation: Professor and Additional Professor appointments initially run for three years, with extensions governed by the applicable government rules. Reservation does not apply to deputation appointments.
• Retired consultants: The initial contract cannot exceed one year. An extension depends on the notice's conditions and ends earlier if the post is filled regularly; the institute can also shorten the engagement.
• Contract notice: Either side can normally end a retired-consultant engagement with one month's notice. Payment in place of the unserved notice period is covered by the contract terms.
• Practice restrictions: Private practice, including laboratory and consultancy work, is prohibited. Retired consultants cannot take another paid assignment during the contract and must protect confidential institute information.
• Possible downgrading: If suitable applicants are unavailable for an Additional or Associate Professor post, the institute may downgrade it to Assistant Professor in the same advertised category and use a contract until regular recruitment fills it.
• Reservation caveat: Unfilled EWS posts will not become backlog posts. Other-category applicants may be considered provisionally as unreserved applicants only if the EWS post otherwise remains unfilled.
• Travel and changes: You must meet your own interview travel costs. The institute can revise the advertised vacancies or amend or cancel the recruitment.
