AIIHPH CHAYA Project Scientist Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health (AIIHPH), Kolkata, is recruiting project scientists for CHAYA through its Department of Occupational Health. Funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the study brings climate-health research and digital technology together to address heat-related risks to workers. The project is led by Prof. Monalisha Sahu, Professor and Head of the department.

CHAYA is a multicentric implementation research study that combines heat adaptation, risk prediction and peer support. Its focus includes artificial intelligence-enabled digital twins for worker safety and yield, so the recruitment brings medical and non-medical research streams into the same project.

Posts and Disciplines

• Project Research Scientist III (Medical): the medical research stream within the Occupational Health department's CHAYA study in Kolkata.
• Project Research Scientist II (Non-Medical): the non-medical stream within the same study, with a focus reflected in the notice's digital-health and technology research preferences.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial engagement: Your contract starts with one year. Annual renewal can continue within the four-year project period, subject to satisfactory performance, funding, project needs and ICMR approval.
• Work base and travel: You will be based in Kolkata and must travel elsewhere in India when the study needs it. The travel requirement does not change the stated work base.
• Possible doctoral study: Selected applicants may have an opportunity to pursue a PhD with the principal investigator or co-investigators. This depends on institutional rules, admission requirements and available positions; it is not assured by selection for the job.
• Interview expenses: The institute will not pay travel or daily allowances for attending the interview.
• Application acceptance: Late, incomplete or unsigned applications can be rejected without further correspondence. The competent authority makes the final decisions on acceptance and suitability.
