NIT Silchar JRF Civil Engineering Recruitment 2026: Overview

National Institute of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar) is hiring a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India, sponsored project in its Civil Engineering department. The study focuses on urban microclimate and hydroclimatic extremes in flood-prone Silchar, using a framework that combines modelling and monitoring at different scales. You would join a project appointment under principal investigator Dr. Jayshree Hazarika, Assistant Professor in the department.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project focus: The study connects local urban climate variations with hydroclimatic modelling. Its aim is to improve the prediction of possible risks and help develop ways to reduce or adapt to those risks for more resilient urban development.
• Study setting: Silchar is the target city for the research. The project brings its urban climate and flood-risk questions together within a single modelling and monitoring framework, rather than treating them as unrelated studies.
• Tenure: The appointment can continue for three years or until the project finishes, whichever happens first. Continuation depends on a performance review every 12 months.
• Agreement: If selected, you must sign an agreement when joining. The recruitment and appointment follow the rules of the sponsoring agency and NIT Silchar.
• Institute discretion: NIT Silchar can limit the number of people called after screening applications. It may leave the position unfilled if it does not find a suitable person.
• Travel: The institute will not pay TA/DA for attending the interview or joining the post. Keep this in mind if you would need to travel to take part or start work.
