BHU Young Professional Recruitment 2026: Overview

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is hiring Young Professionals for agricultural research projects at its Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Varanasi. The projects receive funding from the U.P. Council of Agricultural Research, Lucknow, and cover crop research as well as goat-milk processing. These are project-linked engagements, so you should choose the project that fits your research interests when contacting its investigator.

Posts and Disciplines

Young Professional-I — mustard and groundnut: Dr. Kartikeya Srivastava leads the project on crop stress, late-sown mustard varieties, elite groundnut varieties and suitable agronomical practices for both crops.
Young Professional-I — maize: Dr. Jayasudha S. leads work on identifying and characterising Uttar Pradesh maize landraces, with attention to nutritional potential and biotic and abiotic stresses.
Young Professional-II — goat-milk processing: Dr. Tarun Verma leads the project on processing and adding value to goat milk to develop functional food for human health.
Young Professional-I — direct-seeded rice: Dr. Kumari Shikha leads the project on research and innovation to accelerate the direct-seeded rice system in Uttar Pradesh.

Service Conditions and Caveats

Project tenure: The notice describes projects lasting three years. Your post is temporary and ends with the project.
Interview travel: BHU will not pay travel or daily allowance for attending the interview. You will need to cover your own visit to Varanasi.

For YP-I, you need a 4-year B.Sc. Agriculture degree. For YP-II, you need an M.Tech or postgraduate degree in one of the listed food, dairy or livestock product disciplines. The upper age limits are 28 years for YP-I and 30 years for YP-II, with the stated category relaxations.
