The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released Advertisement No. 10/2026 inviting online applications for 34 vacancies across seven posts in different central ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Ministry of Law and Justice, Ministry of Science and Technology, and the UT Administration of Ladakh. These are permanent Group A and Group B Gazetted posts with pay levels ranging from Level 7 to Level 10 of the 7th CPC. The Horticulture Development Officer and Soil Conservation Assistant posts are reserved exclusively for Scheduled Tribe candidates holding a valid Ladakh domicile certificate.

Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil) - 1 Post (Level 10):

• Degree in Civil Engineering plus 2 years' supervisory experience in structural/RCC works.

Assistant Executive Engineer (Electronics) - 9 Posts (Level 10):

• Degree in Telecommunications/Electronics/Electronics & Communication Engineering plus 2 years' supervisory experience in radio navigation aids.

Assistant Director (Engineering) - 1 Post (Level 7):

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering plus 2 years' relevant experience.

Superintendent Translation (Hindi Branch) - 1 Post (Level 10):

• Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Law with 2-4 years' experience in Hindi translation, drafting, or legal practice, plus Hindi studied up to Secondary School level.

Research Officer - 11 Posts (Level 10):

• Master's Degree in Geography/Geology/Applied Geology/Geoinformatics/GIS & Remote Sensing/Geomatics/Geospatial Technology plus 5 years' teaching or research experience in the field.

Horticulture Development Officer - 4 Posts, Ladakh Domicile Only (Level 8):

• Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture or Agriculture Science. Reserved exclusively for ST candidates with a valid Ladakh domicile certificate.

Soil Conservation Assistant - 7 Posts, Ladakh Domicile Only (Level 8):

• BSc Agriculture/Horticulture, BSc/MSc Soil Science, or BE/BTech Agricultural Engineering. Reserved exclusively for ST candidates with a valid Ladakh domicile certificate.

Age Limit

• Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil): Up to 38 years (OBC) as on the closing date.
• Assistant Executive Engineer (Electronics): 35 years (UR), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST).
• Assistant Director (Engineering): Up to 30 years (UR).
• Superintendent Translation: Up to 35 years (UR).
• Research Officer: 35 years (UR/EWS), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC).
• Horticulture Development Officer / Soil Conservation Assistant: Up to 40 years (ST).
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST get 5 extra years, OBC gets 3 extra years, PwBD gets 10 extra years, and Central Government employees/Ex-Servicemen get up to 5 extra years over the base limit.

Salary

• Level 10 posts (AEE Civil/Electronics, Superintendent Translation, Research Officer): Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month.
• Level 8 posts (Horticulture Development Officer, Soil Conservation Assistant): Rs. 47,600 to Rs. 1,51,100 per month as per 7th CPC Level 8.
• Level 7 post (Assistant Director Engineering): Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400 per month as per 7th CPC Level 7.
• You will also get DA, HRA, TA and other allowances as per central government rules.

Selection Process

UPSC will select candidates through the following stages:

1. Shortlisting: Based on the qualifications and experience mentioned in your online application. A Recruitment Test may be held if the number of applications is very high.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates appear for a personality test/interview of 100 marks. You need a minimum of 50 marks (UR), 45 marks (OBC), or 40 marks (SC/ST/PwBD) to qualify.
3. Document Verification: Original certificates are checked at the time of interview.
