TMC Anaesthesiology Residents and MO Recruitment 2026: Overview

Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, is adding anaesthesiology residents and an ICU Medical Officer at its two cancer centres in Varanasi. The clinical work is based at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Cancer Centre, where anaesthesia and critical-care teams support cancer surgery and inpatient services. This is a rolling walk-in arrangement, so the notice asks you to confirm that your chosen role is still available before travelling.

Posts and Disciplines

  • Senior Resident, Anaesthesiology: postgraduate doctors support anaesthesia planning, perioperative care and the department’s clinical workload.
  • Junior Resident, Anaesthesiology: diploma holders work in the resident team under senior clinical supervision.
  • Medical Officer, ICU Service: MBBS doctors support day-to-day critical-care work for patients who need close observation and treatment.

Post-wise Duties

Senior Resident, Anaesthesiology

You will assess patients before procedures, plan anaesthesia with the consultant team and monitor recovery after surgery. The role also calls for rapid clinical decisions when a patient’s airway, circulation or pain control needs attention.

Junior Resident, Anaesthesiology

You will help prepare patients and equipment, assist during procedures and keep clear clinical notes under supervision. Your work supports safe handovers and post-procedure monitoring across the anaesthesiology service.

Medical Officer, ICU Service

You will monitor critically ill patients, follow treatment plans and respond when vital signs change. You will coordinate with anaesthesia, surgery, nursing and other teams so that ICU care remains continuous through every shift.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Tenure: the initial appointment is for one year and may be extended; it is not presented as a regular appointment.
  • Availability: positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so an advertised role may close once it is taken.
  • Joining: the selected doctor must be medically fit and ready to join immediately.
  • Preference: oncology experience is preferred because the work is within specialist cancer hospitals.
  • Jurisdiction: any legal dispute connected with the engagement falls under Varanasi jurisdiction.

Application Submission Notes

Before reporting, email resident-acad.mpmmcc@tmc.gov.in to confirm availability and give advance intimation. Use the advertisement number and post name in the subject line. If you are travelling from outside Varanasi, you may request an online interview by emailing one combined PDF containing your resume and supporting records. In-person reporting is at the Office of the Dean Academics, fifth floor, DNT Block, MPMMCC, Sunder Bagiya, BHU Campus, Varanasi, between 09:30 AM and 11:00 AM on an official working day.

Responsibilities
