BRIC-Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) Project Associate Recruitment 2026 - 4 Posts

THSTI, an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology's Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), has issued Rolling Recruitment Notice THS/RN/01/2026/08-I to fill 4 short-term research positions across three ongoing projects. Two posts support tuberculosis immunology research under Dr. Avinash Padhi's project on autoimmune responses in TB and Dr. Nisheeth Agarwal's project comparing virulence and drug resistance across Mycobacterium species, while two posts support Dr. Samrat Chatterjee's project on mathematical modelling of whole-body lipid metabolism for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). These are project-linked contractual positions and do not carry any claim to regularisation; the institute has stated that it welcomes women candidates to apply for these roles.

Who Can Apply?

Project Associate-I - Dr. Avinash Padhi's Project (Rs. 30,000 + HRA):

• You need a B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc./M.Tech/B.Pharma degree in any branch of Life Sciences from a recognized university.
• Experience in animal cell culture, molecular biology, and immunological assays is required.
• You should be efficient at analysing experimental data, keeping lab records, and interpreting research results.

Project Associate-I - Dr. Nisheeth Agarwal's Project (Rs. 25,000-31,000 + HRA):

• You need a Master's degree in any branch of Life Sciences with a dissertation/project on infectious diseases (bacterial or viral).
• You must show documented experience in ELISA, mammalian cell culture, biochemical assays (protein estimation, spectrophotometric analysis), and basic data analysis tools from your dissertation work.
• You should have demonstrated proficiency in drug screening, and hands-on molecular biology experience in PCR, gene cloning, RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and RT-PCR.
• Candidates who cleared CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or a national-level selection exam get Rs. 31,000 + HRA; others get Rs. 25,000 + HRA.

Project Associate-I - Dr. Samrat Chatterjee's Project (Rs. 25,000-31,000 + HRA):

• You need a B.E./B.Tech or M.Sc./M.Tech degree in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Bioinformatics.
• You will design and develop the web-based application and its user interface, so knowledge of Python, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Vue.js, SQL and NoSQL databases is desirable.
• Candidates who cleared CSIR-UGC NET, GATE, or a national-level selection exam get Rs. 31,000 + HRA; others get Rs. 25,000 + HRA.

Senior Project Associate - Dr. Samrat Chatterjee's Project (Rs. 42,000 + HRA):

• You need a Master's degree in Mathematics/Physics with at least 4 years of post-qualification research experience, or a PhD in Mathematics/Physics.
• You will lead the computational analysis of the lab, developing and analysing mathematical models and doing big data analysis.
• Knowledge of differential-equation-based models, genome-scale metabolic models, network analysis, and numerical simulation tools like Matlab, Maple, or R is desirable.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit is 35 years for all Project Associate-I posts, and 40 years for the Senior Project Associate post.
• Your age is counted as on the date of your walk-in interview, which is also the crucial date for judging your experience and qualification.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC candidates get 3 years. PwBD candidates get 10 years (UR), 13 years (OBC), or 15 years (SC/ST). Central Government servants get up to 5 years, institute employees get relaxation equal to their service rendered, and Ex-servicemen get their service period plus 3 years (minimum 6 months attested service).

Salary

• Project Associate-I posts pay Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 31,000 per month plus HRA, depending on the post and your NET/GATE qualification.
• The Senior Project Associate post pays Rs. 42,000 per month plus HRA.

Selection Process

THSTI selects candidates through a walk-in process held on the same day:

1. Written Test/Skill Test: Held for the post you applied for.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are interviewed the same day.

If a large number of candidates show up, THSTI will first screen for higher/more relevant qualifications and experience before the test/interview. The number of vacancies shown may change based on actual requirement at the time of the test/interview.
