Police Constable Mechanic

Police Constable Driver

You will drive police vehicles in varied traffic and road conditions while following lawful signals and operational instructions. Vehicle control, judgment, parking, reversing and safe use of brakes are assessed in the practical test.

You will carry out daily and periodic maintenance checks, monitor dashboard instruments and fuel use, and handle minor faults such as punctures, fan-belt problems or air locks. The role needs both confident driving and enough mechanical knowledge to keep a vehicle safe until workshop support is available.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Men-only recruitment: both technical posts are open only to male candidates under the notified service rules.
• Technical proof: Mechanic applicants need the accepted ITI trade certificate, while Driver applicants need the prescribed academic route and a valid heavy or transport-vehicle licence.
• Licence validity: the Driver's licence must be valid on the notification date and remain valid when the driving test is held.
