About This Job

TANUVAS is hiring 1 Project Assistant at the Veterinary College and Research Institute, Salem under a Chief Minister's Research Grant (CMRG) funded project. TANUVAS Project Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) has invited applications for 1 Project Assistant post at the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Salem - 636 112. The position is part of the CMRG-funded project on Development of Latex agglutination test kit using recombinant protein for the detection of Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae antibodies in Small ruminants. Shortlisted candidates will face a written exam followed by an interview at the Salem campus.

Who Can Apply?

  • Essential Qualification: You must be a graduate in Veterinary Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Applied Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or related disciplines from a recognised university or equivalent.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of basic bacteriological culture techniques, molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics.

Age Limit

  • Upper age limit: 40 years
  • Age relaxation as per ASRR, TANUVAS norms

Salary

  • Consolidated salary of Rs. 25,000 per month
  • No House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be paid
  • The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project

Selection Process

Selection will happen in two stages:

  1. Written Examination: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test
  2. Interview: Held on 10 June 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Department of Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Salem

No TA/DA will be paid for the written exam or interview. Mere attendance does not guarantee selection — final selection is on merit.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of a latex agglutination test kit using recombinant protein
  • Handle basic bacteriological culture techniques in the project laboratory
  • Perform molecular biology techniques relevant to Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae research
  • Work with bioinformatics tools to analyse research data
  • Maintain laboratory records, reagents and sample inventories
  • Support detection of antibodies in small ruminants through serological tests
  • Prepare technical reports and contribute to research publications under the Principal Investigator

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Graduate in Veterinary Sciences / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Applied Microbiology / Molecular Biology or related disciplines from a recognised university

Preferred Qualification

Knowledge of basic bacteriological culture techniques, molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics

Required Skills

18 - 40 years
