SVNIT Assistant Professor Grade-II Recruitment 2026 — Rolling Advertisement

Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat is an Institute of National Importance established by the Government of India under the NITSER Act. SVNIT offers UG, PG, and doctoral programs in engineering, technology, and sciences. Under Advertisement No. Estt./2023/Faculty/3336/VII/2601 dated January 23, 2026, the institute invites applications from Indian nationals for the post of Assistant Professor Grade-II at Pay Level 10 in five departments.

The following departments have vacancies for Assistant Professor Grade-II (Pay Level 10):

• Department of Computer Science & Engineering (DoCSE)
• Department of Artificial Intelligence (DoAI)
• Department of Electrical Engineering (DoEE)
• Department of Electronics Engineering (DoECE)
• Department of Civil Engineering (DoCE)

The exact number of vacancies in each department may vary and will be confirmed at the time of final selection. As per the original rolling advertisement, the overall recruitment covers 50 positions across all pay levels with category-wise distribution: UR-25, EWS-02, OBC-05, SC-08, ST-10 (backlog vacancies included). Reservation for PwD at 4% applies as per Government of India norms.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

• Ph.D. in the relevant or equivalent discipline is mandatory
• First class in all preceding degrees (from Bachelor's degree onwards)
• If first class is not mentioned by the university, you need at least 6.5 CGPA (on 10-point scale) or 60% marks
• All degrees must be from an institute or university recognized by UGC/AICTE/AIU/Government of India
• Candidates with degrees from abroad will be considered if the institution is in the QS/THE World University Ranking up to 500 for the last two consecutive years

Other Requirements

• Essential qualifications, experience, and credit points must follow Schedule 'E' of the NIT Statutes (Gazette of India, July 2017 & June 2023)
• Your Ph.D. specialization must match the areas listed in Annexure-II on the SVNIT website
• Inbreeding condition: If you got your Ph.D. from SVNIT Surat, there must be a gap of at least 3 years between your Ph.D. notification date and the application closing date (not applicable for existing SVNIT faculty)
• OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates must produce a valid certificate issued on or after 1st April 2025

Age Limit

• Fresh appointment beyond 60 years is discouraged
• Exception: Candidates with exceptional research and ongoing or approved externally funded research projects may be considered beyond 60 years

Salary

• Pay Level 10 as per 7th Central Pay Commission
• Initial minimum pay: Rs. 70,900 per month (Cell No. 8 of Pay Matrix)
• Pay range: Rs. 57,700 to Rs. 98,200 per month (Level 10 Pay Matrix)
• Plus admissible allowances including DA, HRA, and other benefits
• Additional perks: CPDA (Cumulative Professional Development Allowance), industrial consultancy, children's tuition fee reimbursement, LTC, medical facilities, accommodation, and telephone/data charges reimbursement
• Research seed grant up to Rs. 10,00,000 for fresh appointees
• National Pension Scheme (NPS-2004) applies for fresh appointees

Selection Process

1. Scrutiny of Applications: Your application will be checked strictly based on minimum essential qualifications and areas of specialization listed in Annexure-II. If your Ph.D. specialization does not match, you will be disqualified
2. Shortlisting: Departments may set higher shortlisting criteria beyond minimum qualifications. Different departments may use different criteria
3. Written Test / Screening Test: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a written screening test. The syllabus and schedule will be published on the institute website
4. Departmental Presentation: You may need to give a seminar or presentation in the relevant department
5. Personal Interview: Final selection through interview by the Selection Committee
6. Medical Examination: Selected candidates must be medically fit. A medical certificate from a government hospital is required at the time of joining

Important: If you have already appeared before the selection committee two or more times against previous advertisements (dated 15/03/2023 through 16/04/2025), you need not apply again.
