Who Can Apply?

For Assistant Professor (Commerce / Economics / Mathematics):

• You need a Master's degree with 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates, or those who completed their Master's before 19 September 1991) in the relevant or an allied subject.
• You must have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR. NET is not required if you hold a Ph.D. awarded under the UGC (Minimum Standards for Ph.D.) Regulations, 2009 or 2016.
• Alternatively, you can apply with a Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked in the world's top 500 (QS, THE or Shanghai ARWU rankings).

For Director, Physical Education (DPE):

• You need a Master's degree in Physical Education and Sports, Physical Education, or Sports Science with 55% marks.
• You should have represented your University/College at inter-university, inter-collegiate, State or National level competitions.
• You must have qualified NET and pass a Physical Fitness Test.
• Asian Games or Commonwealth Games medal winners with a postgraduate degree can also apply without NET.

Salary

• Selected Assistant Professors and the DPE will get an entry pay of Rs. 57,700 per month under Academic Pay Level-10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• You will also get Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and other usual allowances as admissible under University of Delhi rules.

Selection Process

The selection process differs slightly for Assistant Professor and DPE posts:

1. Screening of Applications: For Assistant Professor posts, your academic record and publications are used only to shortlist candidates for interview — screening marks do not count towards final selection.
2. Interview (Assistant Professor): Final selection for Assistant Professor is based entirely on your performance in the interview.
3. Written Test (DPE only): DPE candidates first take a 100-question MCQ test for 400 marks in 2 hours, covering university sports rules and domain knowledge of sports and coaching, with 1 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
4. Physical Fitness Test (DPE only): Shortlisted DPE candidates must clear a Run/Walk Test — for example, men up to 30 years must cover 1800 metres in 12 minutes, and women up to 30 years must cover 1000 metres in 8 minutes.
5. Interview (DPE): Candidates who qualify the written test and fitness test are called for a final interview.
