Who Can Apply?

Administrative Officer

• Qualification: Graduate from a recognised university in any discipline.
• Experience: 5 years administrative work experience in a government, semi-government, municipal, board or corporation setup.
• Computer knowledge: Basic computer knowledge as prescribed by government rules is required.
• Language: Knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi is required.

Assistant Architect

• Qualification: B.E. Civil or B.Arch from a recognised university.
• Additional requirement: You also need a postgraduate degree or diploma in city planning, regional planning or urban design, or membership after passing the Town Planners institution examination.
• Computer and language: Basic computer knowledge and knowledge of Gujarati and Hindi are required.

Electrical Wireman

• Qualification: Minimum 2-year certificate course in Wireman or Electrician from a Government Industrial Training Institute.
• Computer skills: Basic computer application knowledge as prescribed in Gujarat Civil Services rules.
• Language: Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

Age Limit

• Administrative Officer: Not more than 45 years.
• Assistant Architect: Not more than 35 years.
• Electrical Wireman: Not more than 33 years.
• Age reference date: Age will be counted as on the online application closing date, 6 July 2026.
• Relaxation: Reserved category applicants from Gujarat get age relaxation as per government rules, but the upper age should not exceed 45 years.
• SMC employees: The notified age limit is not applicable to regular Surat Municipal Corporation employees where the notice gives that exemption.

Salary

• Administrative Officer: Old scale Rs. 8,000-13,500; Pay Band Rs. 9,300-34,800, Grade Pay Rs. 5,400, Pay Matrix Rs. 53,100-1,67,800 at Level 9.
• Assistant Architect: Old scale Rs. 6,500-10,500; Pay Band Rs. 9,300-34,800, Grade Pay Rs. 4,600, Pay Matrix Rs. 44,900-1,42,400 at Level 8.
• Electrical Wireman: First 3 years fixed training pay of Rs. 16,500 per month, then old scale Rs. 3,050-4,590, Pay Band Rs. 5,200-20,200, Grade Pay Rs. 1,900, Pay Matrix Rs. 19,900-63,200 at Level 2.
• Allowances: Regular pay and allowances will apply as per SMC and Gujarat government rules after the relevant appointment / training conditions.

Application Fee

• General / Unreserved: Rs. 500.
• Reserved categories: Rs. 400 for all women, SEBC, EWS, SC, ST and PwBD applicants as mentioned in the notice.
• Payment mode: Online payment only. Cash, demand draft, Indian Postal Order and pay order are not accepted.
• Refund: The paid application fee is not refundable after online payment.

Selection Process

SMC will decide the exact process based on the number of applications and post requirements. The notice allows written test, practical test, oral interview and document verification as required.

1. Application Screening: SMC checks the online application and post-wise eligibility.
2. Written Test: A written test may be held where SMC decides it is needed.
3. Practical Test: Practical testing may be used for technical or skill-based posts such as Electrical Wireman.
4. Oral Interview: SMC may conduct oral interview as part of final assessment.
5. Document Verification: You must produce original documents and one set of certified copies when called.
