SCI Chief Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. is a Navratna PSU and a major Indian shipping company with shore and fleet operations. For Advt. No. HR 01/2026, SCI needs one Chief Medical Officer for the Mumbai Head Office. This is a 2-year contract, with a provision for two extensions of 3 months each at SCI's discretion.

The CMO role is medical, administrative, and maritime-focused. You will handle shore employee medical matters, fleet employee medical fitness, seafarer cases, hospital claims, and urgent consultation duties. SCI also says the CMO must respond to emergencies for shore and fleet personnel at any time during the contract period.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: MBBS degree from a recognized Indian university or institute recognized by the Medical Council of India.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• DG Shipping approval: Valid Directorate General of Shipping approval is required at the time of application.
• Preferred qualification: Post Graduation degree in medicine is preferred.
• Nationality: Only Indian nationals need to apply.

If your experience includes self-practice, SCI asks you to provide documentary evidence supporting that experience. The DG Shipping approval should also remain valid throughout the contract tenure if you are selected.

This is not a fresh graduate medical post. SCI is asking for a doctor who can show 5 years of post-MBBS work and can handle DG Shipping-approved medical examination duties. Age Limit

• Upper age: 62 years as on 01 April 2026.
• Date of birth condition: Your date of birth should be on or after 01 April 1964.
• Tenure ceiling: If the selected doctor reaches 65 years during extension, the contract can run only until the date of turning 65.

Salary

• Monthly salary: Rs. 1,03,120 consolidated.
• Included items: The amount includes perks and DGS fees.
• Other benefits: No other perks, benefits, allowances, transport allowance, or company accommodation are listed.
• Leave: 30 days leave in a year on pro-rata basis for extension periods.
• Insurance: Accident cover under SCI's group insurance scheme for workplace accidents.

The salary is fixed as a monthly Rs. 1,03,120 consolidated amount, so do not add separate transport, accommodation, or medical-benefit expectations unless SCI later publishes an update. The working schedule is 6 hours per day from Monday to Friday, but the notice also makes emergency consultation part of the contract duty.
