OPF Kanpur Civil Engineer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Ordnance Parachute Factory, Kanpur (OPF), a unit of Gliders India Limited (GIL) under the Ministry of Defence, is engaging a Civil Engineer on contract through rolling interviews. The engagement is for a superannuated employee at the Kanpur factory. GIL makes parachutes, related equipment, inflatable boats and other products for defence and security users.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial contract: The engagement starts with a one-year term. OPF may extend it by another year if your performance is satisfactory and the factory still needs the service; the total cannot exceed 24 months.
• No automatic continuation: Completing the first term does not give you a right to an extension, regular appointment, seniority or benefits available to regular employees. The contract carries no claim to permanent absorption.
• Performance review: Your section head assesses daily and monthly output. A committee with Production, Planning and Finance officers reviews performance after the first three and six months when considering continued service.
• Payment processing: Payments depend on the output recommendation certified by the Head of Section and Divisional Officer. Tax is deducted where government rules apply; OPF does not handle non-statutory deductions such as personal insurance premiums.
• Joining: You must join within seven days of receiving the offer. Missing that period cancels selection without a further notice or extension.
• Non-joining restriction: If you do not join, you cannot apply for this contractual post at OPF for one year from refusal or cancellation of candidature, whichever occurs earlier.
• Ending the contract: Either side can normally end the engagement with 15 days’ notice or pay instead. OPF may reject your termination notice in the public interest or because of work, target or staffing needs.
• Paid leave: You earn 1.5 days for each completed month, calculated proportionately. Absence beyond the proportionate annual limit of 18 days is unpaid; unused leave cannot be carried forward or encashed.
• Working arrangement: You work at OPF Kanpur during office hours. The factory can assign additional duties when its work needs demand them.
• Conduct: Canvassing disqualifies you. False declarations can lead to rejection of your application or termination of the engagement without notice.
